New 15-passenger van helps The Good Fight expand its reach to disadvantaged kids in La Crosse area
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A local organization that’s driven to help at-risk and disadvantaged kids is getting the keys to a new set of wheels.
The Good Fight Community Center has a new 15-passenger van thanks to a $10,000 donation from The Rotary Club of La Crosse-After Hours.
It’s being used to help the organization expand its reach to families and kids who don’t have access to transportation.
“It’s one less thing for parents to worry about. It’s also another resource for the schools so they can say, ‘though we can’t have a school bus drop you off at The Good Fight, The Good Fight will come to you and pick you up,'” said Isaiah Tomas, Executive Director of organization.
With winter creeping in, Tomas said there is another benefit to having the van.
“Though we have public transportation, it’s starting to get cold out and it would be awesome to have someone pick you up right at your door,” he said.
The Good Fight is a safe place where under-served kids in our community can go for socializing, tutoring, fitness training, and other activities.
