Nationally recognized UW-L program gets $1.25 million grant
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A huge grant is helping a nationally recognized program at UW-La Crosse
The university’s Adapted Physical Education Teacher Preparation Program received a five year, $1.25 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services.
The money will help bring in and train students from all over the country during a time when their services are needed the most.
“Last year we had teachers from this Adapted Physical Education Program hired in Alaska, in Georgia, Chicago suburbs, North Carolina, Virginia. There’s a need for this type of specialized preparation,” says Garth Tymeson, who directs the UW-L program.
The grant is one of the biggest the university has ever received.
