National Weather Service offering online storm spotter training
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Meteorologists rely on reports from people on the ground when severe weather strikes. People can learn how to spot storms during a series of online storm spotter training sessions beginning Monday.
The National Weather Service created a program called Skywarn. Skywarn is a volunteer program with more than 350,000 trained severe weather spotters. These volunteers help keep their local communities stay safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather.
Online training sessions will occur on:
March 14th, 2022- 6:30 p.m.
March 30th, 2022- 6:30 p.m.
April 5th, 2022- 2:00 p.m.
April 19th, 2022- 6:30 p.m.
