National 2-1-1 Day highlights free help available in the community
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Thursday was National 2-1-1 day.
2-1-1 is a phone service that gives callers information about health and human services in their communities. Those include help preventing an eviction, applying for food stamps, seeking treatment for mental illness, or finding a specific support group.
In the La Crosse area, Great Rivers 2-1-1 is funded by Gundersen Health System and United Way and is available 24-7, 365 days a year.
“People can call us from the community, people can call us from agencies as they’re trying to help other people, or looking for help themselves,” said Line Supervisor at Gundersen Kim Knutson.
Just dial 2-1-1 on your phone for help. It’s free and confidential.
