LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Robert Swartz, a member of the Paul E. Stry Foundation’s board of directors, will represent the foundation in receiving the 2021 Land Conservation Leadership Land Legacy Award at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at Miller Bluff in La Crosse.
In choosing the La Crosse-based foundation for the award, the Mississippi Valley Conservancy and Gathering Waters: Wisconsin’s Alliance for Land Trusts picked the La Crosse Blufflands-North as the presentation site because it includes some of the first properties the foundation helped MVC acquire and protect.
This work became the catalyst for the La Crosse Blufflands Protection Program.
The Land Legacy Award recognizes the major impact the foundation has made through its philanthropic leadership to protect blufflands, hemlock forests, Mississippi River shorelines and other unique properties in La Crosse and throughout Wisconsin’s Driftless Region, according to the MVC and Gathering Waters.
Before the presentation, the organizations will capture footage for a recognition video that the MVC will feature during its virtual fundraising event scheduled for Nov. 5.
