Multiple road closures starting this week in Winona County

WINONA COUNTY, Minn (WKBT) – There are a number of road closures slated to begin this week in Winona County.

For those going from Minnesota to Wisconsin, be prepared for some delays in your travel. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is inspecting the Highway 43 bridge in Winona.

This will impact the outbound side heading to Wisconsin. One lane will be closed for workers.

The department urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in works zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.

The closures begin on Monday and could continue through Friday, June 26th. Work will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Winona County Road 35 Southeast of St. Charles will be closed beginning Monday. The closures are to allow for culvert replacements along the county road near the I-90 overpass.

Access to the road will be limited to local residents and will be limited to one direction. No specific detour routes will be signed during the construction as there are a number of options for drivers.

The work is expected to continue for the next three or four weeks depending on the weather. Once they’re replaced, the roadway surface will remain as gravel until its resurfaced. That part of the project is expected to begin in July.

Winona County Road 12 in and near Ridgeway will be closed starting Wednesday. Crews will be working on culvert and storm sewer installation.

The closure is expected to continue for six to eight weeks, depending on the weather. Access for local residents will be maintained throughout the construction, but traffic will reduced to one direction.

Once the initial work is completed, the roadway surface will remain as gravel until the entire road is resurfaced. The resurfacing is expected to be completed by the end of September.

There will be no specific detour during construction.
