Multiple agencies increase patrol of Kickapoo River Reserve
VERNON COUNTY, Wis. — Law enforcement issued 19 citations, 36 warnings and arrested one person after increased patrol of the Kickapoo River in Vernon County, on Saturday, June 29.
Mary West, Executive Director of The Kickapoo Valley Reserve, says the citations were written for violations of underage drinking, possession of drugs/paraphernalia, no personal floatation devices, and having glass beverage containers on the river.
The agencies involved in the extra patrols include the Kicakpoo Valley Reserve Police, the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department, DNR Conservation Wardens, Wildcat Mountain State Park Rangers, and Ontario police.
West says the agencies plan to continue the river enforcement at various times throughout the summer.
