Much Warmer Today… But Breezy
Dry & Mild This Weekend
Friday’s Forecast High: 37F / Tonight’s Low: 22F…
It was another cold morning across the region, but not nearly as cold as the past two. Wind chills were still in the 0F to -15F range, due to S/SW winds 5-15 mph and gusts to around 20 mph.
Expect lots of sunshine again today. It will also be much warmer, thanks to a southerly flow around departing high pressure. Highs today will be in the 30s, in fact mid-upper 30s for the La Crosse area. However, it won’t feel quite that warm thanks to breezy S/SW winds 10-20 mph and gusts to around 30 mph.
Mostly clear and not as cold tonight. Lows will range from the low-mid teens to the low 20s. The weekend is looking dry with mild conditions for this time of year. Expect highs in the upper 30s to low 40s Saturday, then in the low-mid 40s Sunday.
Looking Ahead… There are still lots of question marks in the forecast models, in determining the track a system will take that could impact our area next week. Many models still keep the track of the system far enough south that the heavier precipitation will miss our area. However, every now and then a model run will lift it farther north. So for now, I will continue to keep at least a slight chance of snow in the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday. The precip could start out as a light snow or mix late Monday or Monday night. High temps will cool from around 40F Monday… to around 30F Wednesday. If the system tracks farther north, then the chance of accumulating snow in our area would increase… so stay tuned for updates.
Thursday through next Saturday is looking mainly dry at this point, but chillier with highs back in the mid-upper 20s. Expect mostly cloudy skies Thursday and Friday, then partly sunny conditions Saturday.
Happy Friday and have a great weekend! -Bill Graul
