Mostly Sunny… But Colder Today
Friday’s High: 30F / Tonight’s Low: 22F – Last updated Friday, December 6, 2019 at 8:37 AM…
A cold front swept southeast across the region early this morning. This will make for a colder day, even with mostly sunny skies. We likely already hit the “official” high for today early this morning when the temp in La Crosse was 34F. Temps will then drop into the 20s this morning, then try to rebound back to around 30F for a “daytime” high this afternoon. NW winds 5-15 mph will make it feel even colder.
Seasonably cold tonight with passing clouds. The clouds will be thickest in northern and eastern parts of the viewing area. Lows will range from the upper teens to low 20s in most areas.
Looking Ahead… We’ll warm right back up for the weekend with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s. Saturday looks dry with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Clouds will be on the increase Sunday. By Sunday night, an approaching cold front could produce some light snow late.
Low pressure will then track northeast along that cold front on Monday, bringing a good chance of snow to our area. Early estimates are showing the chance for a 1″ to 3″ snowfall for our area, but I’ll fine tune this forecast over the weekend… so stay tuned for updates. Highs Monday will be in the low 30s early… then temps will fall through the day as the cold front tracks east.
Mostly cloudy and much colder Tuesday. Lingering flurries are possible. The big story will be highs only in the teens, with lows Tuesday night falling into the single digits BELOW zero in most areas. Wind chills Tuesday night could fall into the -10s and perhaps -20s in some areas. Brrrr!
Arctic air will keep its grip on the region on Wednesday with highs struggling just to reach around 10F. At least we’ll see some sunshine Wednesday. Another cold night Wednesday night with lows in the single digits above and below zero.
Chance of light snow Thursday with highs in the upper teens. Not as cold Friday with highs back in the mid 20s, but mostly cloudy skies. Slight chance of light snow showers or flurries next Saturday with highs in the low-mid 20s.
Happy Friday and enjoy the milder temps this weekend! -Bill Graul
