More than 50 flags fly in La Crosse yard on Flag Day

Sunday was Flag Day. A holiday some overlook or forget about at times, but one La Crosse man takes the holiday to heart.

Bill Bruring is a World War two and Korean War veteran. He has more than 50 American flags flying in his yard, one for each state and the District of Columbia.

He also has one that flew over the White House in his honor in December. It was then given to him by U.S. Rep. Ron Kind.

Bruring said he flies all these flags because he is proud to be an American.

“The most important thing I can tell you is that America’s most treasured symbol is the flag,”Bruring said.

Bruring was given his largest flag by the city of La Crosse.
