Monroe County sees high COVID-19 numbers
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The Monroe County Health Department Thursday warned the public of a large increase in COVID-19 cases in September, noting that the case rate reached 25.36 per 100,000 per day this week.
The case rate puts Monroe County in the red zone on the Harvard’s Path to Zero model, which is used to track the rate of confirmed COVID-19 cases to better understand the spread of the coronavirus and the risk to the public.
The health department will share case rates each Wednesday on its Facebook page and website, healthymonroecowi.org/covid-19. It recommends people who have tested positive or have had contact with someone who tested positive isolate themselves.
It also recommends people stay at home as much as possible, wear a fabric face covering and maintain at least a 6-foot distance from people outside of their household.
