Monroe County National Guard testing site results
TOMAH, Wis. (WKBT) – The Monroe County Health Department releases the National Guard testing site results from June 30, 2020.
The health department and Emergency Management partnered with the Wisconsin National Guard and the City of Tomah to host a community drive-through COVID-19 testing site on July 30. According to a news release, 277 tests were administered at the event and residents came from Monroe, Juneau, Jackson, Adams, and La Crosse counties to be tested.
Seven of the tests were positive (2.5%).
“Events such as these have many moving parts and require a lot of coordination in a short period of time, we are grateful to have the collaboration of our county and state partners to help protect the health of the public,” said Director/Health Officer Sharon Nelson. “Testing allows health department staff to quickly contact positive cases and have their close contacts quarantine. Often times, close contacts, especially household contacts will contract the virus 2-14 days later. By having these people quarantine, we’re able to slow the spread of COVID-19.”
