Money stolen from Black River Falls restaurant during burglary

Police chief: Incident likely has ties to local drug activity

Someone stole money after breaking into the Sunrise Restaurant at 710 Water Street in Black River Falls sometime between 11:30 p.m. on January 28 and 6:40 a.m. on January 29.

Black River Falls police said someone smashed a window at the restaurant and then went directly to the cash register and stole about $90 and then left the building. The damage to the business costs more than $1,000.

Black River Falls Police Chief Pat LaBarbera said he believes this incident has ties to local drug activity in Black River Falls.

“With this type of cash grab, it makes sense it’s enough money for a drug fix but nobody gets rich,” Chief LaBarbera said.
