MnDOT announces brief closures for I-90, Highway 61 next week

Closures for June 23-24 part of ongoing Dresbach Bridge project

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is announcing two sign installation projects near the Dresbach Bridge will delay drivers for a short time early next week.

Eastbound traffic on Interstate 90 will be closed at 11 p.m. on Monday, June 23 for approximately 15 minutes as crews install a sign truss. Once that project is completed, eastbound traffic will be re-opened for 45 minutes before closing again as a digital message sign is installed. Once work on the digital sign is completed, traffic will again be re-opened.

The next night — Tuesday, June 24 — northbound and southbound traffic on Highway 61 near I-90 will be closed for a short time starting at 11 p.m. There will be a second closure 45 minutes later for only northbound traffic on Highway 61.

The installations are part of the $187 million Dresbach Bridge project to replace the current bridge over the Mississippi River with two separate bridges. Work is expected to be completed in 2016.

More details on the project can be found on MnDOT’s website.
