Mix to Rain Tomorrow

Breezy and Mild
Cory Malles
Good evening… we started out on a cold note this morning, but we did see some sunshine. Clouds made a return by afternoon.
These clouds are from a weather system to our west that will move across the area tomorrow and bring a chance of light precipitation. For tonight, look for a cloudy and somewhat breezy night as southeast winds ramp up ahead of that system. The good news is these breezes will bring increasingly warmer air into the region. The result will be the coldest temperatures tonight occurring around midnight, with a rising trend kicking in overnight.
As we head into tomorrow, look for light precip to break out during the morning hours. With most areas still below freezing there could be a period of rain, freezing rain and snow before the mix changes over to light rain or drizzle for the afternoon. The latest data shows most of this precip will be very light However, you’ll want to be aware of some locally slick spots on untreated roads. Look for a breezy and mild day as highs warm into the upper 30s in the north to the upper 40s to near 50 in the south. Look for southeast winds at 10-20 mph.
The system exits the region tomorrow night. Expect lingering clouds and lows in the middle teens to middle 20s.
Looking ahead…. look for a rather active period of weather. A series of very weak systems look to bring at least a slight chance of light snow or flurries just about every day. The good news is amounts for any one system look very light.
Temperatures will go on a roller coaster ride through the period. We’ll see highs in the 20s for the weekend. They will warm into the middle 30s for the first part of the week, then drop back into the 20s by next Wednesday. There are signs we could see even colder temperatures for the end of next week. Over all, this is a pretty typical January forecast.
