‘Missing Types’ a problem for Red Cross
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The Red Cross has launched a new campaign to increase blood donations.
The campaign will focus on what the organization is calling missing types.
The Missing Types campaign is raising awareness of the need for blood types A, B and O.
Friday, a blood drive at Valley View Mall hopes to show the public that new blood donors are needed to ensure lifesaving blood is available for patients.
“When you don’t have enough donors it becomes a significant problem for patients in the hospital, it can mean life or death to some folks,” said Scott Friell, Account Representative with the American Red Cross.
Red Cross says number of donors nationwide has declined about 80,000 people over the past four years.
