Winona golf tourney to raise scholarship money for Minnesota State Southeast
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — The Minnesota State College Southeast Foundation will host its 12th annual Alumni & Friends Golf Tournament Aug. 6 at The Bridges Golf Course in Winona.
The starting time and format for the 18-hole tournament, which will raise scholarship funds for MSC students, is to be determined. Possibilities being considered, in keeping with state health guidelines because of the COVID-19 pandemic, include designated tee times. an afternoon shot gun start or morning and afternoon flights, with shotgun start.
WNB Financial is sponsoring the tournament, for which secure online registration is available now at Minnesota State College Southeast’s website.
The foundation will contact golfers as soon as the format decision is made, said associate foundation director Casie Johnson, who encouraged early registration for the limited number of players who can be accommodated.
Groups can sign up as a foursome or individuals/pairs can be coupled with another group to make a foursome.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second, tenth and “most honest” (last) place winners. There also will be hole events and games. For non-golfers, there will be a virtual silent auction and other activities to support the college.
The foundation typically holds two summer golf tournaments, one in Red Wing and one in Winona. The Red Wing tourney was canceled because of COVID-19. although this year’s Red Wing event had to be cancelled
