Minnesota State Fair ride malfunctions for 3rd day
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A high-swinging ride at the Minnesota State Fair that has had numerous issues causing it to shut down is idle again.
Owner Tom McDonagh tells the Star Tribune the Stratosphere wasn’t working again Saturday due to a maintenance issue unrelated to the problem that grounded it during the fair’s first two days.
The ride didn’t open Saturday morning, but McDonagh said he hoped it would be running later in the day.
The Stratosphere shut down on its own as a safety precaution on Thursday and Friday.
Riders were aboard but fair officials say no one was hurt and no one has been in danger.
The ride had similar problems at the Wisconsin State Fair earlier this month.
