Minnesota sends fire crew to Texas
GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota is sending a fire crew to help battle wildfires in drought-stricken Texas.
The 20-member crew left Grand Rapids Tuesday morning and is expected to arrive in Marathon, Texas, on Wednesday evening.
The inter-agency group is made up of trained wildfire fighters from across Minnesota. The crew has members from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the U.S. Forest Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs representing the Fond du Lac (fahn doo lak), Leech Lake and Grand Portage agencies.
The crew will serve up to two weeks in Texas.
