Minnesota DFL Party Chairman visits La Crosse
Ken Martin sits down with New's 8
LA CROSSE, Wisc. (WKBT) — The Chairman of the Minnesota DFL Party stopped in La Crosse to discuss the future of Minnesota politics.
Ken Martin is currently serving his fifth term as Chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. He’s held the post since 2011, making him the longest serving Chairman in the 75-year history of the DFL.
Minnesota recently came back from a successful legislative session, solidifying a 2-year budget plan. Now Minnesota democrats are looking ahead to the 20-20 election.
“We’re going to throw everything we can at all of these republicans and hope that we get democrats in there,” says Chairman Martin. “This is an existential election, I’ve never seen anything like what’s happening in this country, and we all should wake up and realize that this isn’t about party anymore this is about our country, this is about our values as Americans, and we need to stand up and fight for those.”
Chairman Martin also touched on the legalization of marijuana in Minnesota. He says the benefits of the plant are tremendous and it makes sense to legalize it, tax it, and use those taxes to do good things.
