Minnesota Congressman points out the need to support rural hospitals
Congressman Jim Hagedorn talks about the toll COVID-19 is taking on smaller hospitals
In Minnesota, First District Congressman Jim Hagedorn says he’s been working to help fast-track efforts by two Minnesota businesses to help fight the spread of COVID-19.
First, Hagedorn is pushing for F-D-A approval for new testing methods developed by Mayo Clinic and for medical face shields designed by Minnesota company Bedford Industries to be manufactured and supplied to medical providers across the region.
Hagedorn is also urging increased allocation of resources to rural hospitals.
” Our rural hospitals when they forego treatments and procedures, things like that, they’re already on a shoestring budget. They’ll go broke over this if we don’t do something to sustain them and they’re making sacrifices,” says Hagedorn.
He also wanted health care workers to know what a great job they’re doing under these circumstances.
Hagedorn saw it firsthand himself as he was receiving cancer treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester on Tuesday.
