Milwaukee Archbishop Listecki has mixed feeling about pope resigning
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki says he is both saddened and joyful about Pope Benedict’s decision to resign.
Listecki says he is joyful that the 85-year-old pontiff will have the chance to “enjoy some personal time in his golden years.”
But Listecki says he’s also sad because he will miss Benedict’s “holy, evangelical work.”
Benedict announced he is stepping down at the end of February because of his health.
In a statement Monday, Listecki said Benedict is “a true servant of Jesus Christ, a phenomenal leader, and his inspiration reaches across multiple generations.”
