Mental Health Summit focuses on building a network for veterans
Tomah VA and Western host Mental Health Summit
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The Tomah VA Medical Center and Western Technical College hosted the 2019 Mental Health Summit in La Crosse on Wednesday afternoon.
The summit brings community stakeholders from across Wisconsin together, discussing ways our area can enhance access to mental health services for Veterans.
Veteran health officials use the annual summit to create a partnership between community organizations and the Tomah VA, working closely to better help Veterans in our area.
“The community has resources that the VA doesn’t have, and the VA has resources the community doesn’t have. So, it’s very important that we all work together to assisst eachother. It takes a village for all of us to work together to help the veterans,” said Associate Chief Nurse of Mental Health at the Tomah VA, Natalie Hackbarth.
The Tomah VA hopes to create a Community Veterans Engagement Network for the La Crosse area. The network will help bridge the gap between community resources and the VA medical center.
