Mayo in La Crosse ranked highly in treating heart failure
LA CROSSE, Wis. — A new report is giving a local health system some recognition for its treatment of heart failure.
The U.S. News and World Report rates Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse as a high performer in caring for patients with heart failure.
The report’s ratings focus on how well hospitals perform in common inpatient procedures and conditions.
Paul Albrecht, the director of cardiovascular services at Mayo’s La Crosse location, said the distinction is a reflection of the department’s staff.
“It’s great credit to the wonderful work that’s done by our nursing staff and nurse practitioners in conjunction with our cardiologists,” he said. “We do a lot of education, a lot of quality care with our patients to make sure they know how to care for themselves the best way possible.”
This is the first year the La Crosse hospital has received this rating.
The report also recognized other Mayo locations in the area, including hospitals in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Rochester, Minnesota.
