Mayo Clinic to relocate Behavior Health services in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse on Monday will transition its Behavioral Health services to the Professional Arts Building at 615 10th St. S.
The health system announced the move from its current location at 212 11th St. S. on Tuesday. After the move, Behavioral Health services will be open8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday – Friday. It will offer in-person and virtual care.
“Relocating to the La Crosse campus reaffirms our commitment to our patients and to the community and fills the gaps in caring for those with substance abuse and mental health disorders,” said Chelsea Ale, Ph.D., department chair for Behavioral Health. “Although the COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increase in demand for Behavioral Health services, we have continued to care for patients using virtual visits and in-person care. This new space will better accommodate both.”
The new location will continue to accommodate comprehensive mental health services.
“Being on campus also presents numerous advantages for the practice,” added John Sowders, Ph.D., who is the operations manager for Behavioral Health. “Integrating these services to the outpatient medical practice reduces the stigma of mental health disorders and treatments. By having an established office location on campus, the practice will be better aligned with primary care to meet the needs of our patients.”
Parking is available across the street (10th street) in the former Occupational Health parking lot. While COVID-19 testing is still occurring, street parking is available and there is patient parking allocated for Behavioral Health services in Lot 9.
