Mayo Clinic expert offers ways to fit in workouts to your schedules
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Physicians at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse want to help people who are making it a New Year’s Resolution to work out.
Doctors say one of the most common excuses to avoid exercise is that people don’t have the time.
They say you only need 10 to 15 minutes to focus on a good exercise.
They also say that you should plan ahead, because without a specific plan, finding time for a workout seems like more of a hassle.
And it’s important to remember that even the most simple workouts can be beneficial.
“One of my favorite talking points in the clinic is how walking is the most underrated form of exercise,” sports medicine Dr. Alecia Gende said. “I would tell them to start small would be a fine place to start with just 10 minute walks every day, and we all have different levels of health and fitness that were starting out at. And that’s usually pretty safe for everyone of us.”
Doctors say to find your motivation, remind yourself daily of your goals.
