Mayo Clinic challenging people to ‘slim their screen time’ this summer

LA CROSSE (WKBT) – Mayo Clinic Health System is encouraging people to reduce the amount of time spent in front of a screen through a summer challenge.

Mayo Clinic says while screens are a part of today’s culture, reducing screen time can have health benefits including improved physical health, decreased obesity and higher quality sleep.

“This summer, Mayo Clinic Health System encourages people to make the most of life by living life fully — present and in the moment,” Mayo Clinic pediatrician Jennifer Brumm said. “Anyone can join Mayo Clinic Health System for a free virtual challenge to reduce their screen time so children and adults can play, explore and connect more.”

The challenge asks participants to complete at least 30 of 100 listed activity ideas, tracking their progress through a checklist. Mayo Clinic will check in with participants via email twice through the challenge with bonus activities, motivational content and a survey at the end of the challenge.

If you’d like to learn more or register for the challenge, you can visit Mayo Clinic’s website.
