Mass Casualty drill held at Viterbo in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A mass casualty training event Friday at Viterbo gave students and staff real-world learning.
The drill simulated a large amount of injuries on campus.
About 60 students from the Nursing and Social Work programs took part in the event.
Organizers say it was important to make the drill as real as possible.
“We can tell somebody a million times over how it feels to take care of somebody with a heart attack or with a gunshot wound or an injury, but actually feel it and feel that emotion when there is that yelling and crying and screaming and what looks like blood all over the patient is a whole different aspect,” said Kerri Busteed, Simulation Coordinator at Viterbo University.
This was the 3rd annual mass casualty drill at Viterbo.
