Mardi Gras Rex and Queen visit area catholic schools
Family oriented celebration helps provide tuition assistance for area families
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Get out your beads and King cake, because Mardi Gras is starting early here in La Crosse.
The Rex and Queen of the La Crosse Mardi Gras were out on Wednesday visiting area catholic schools to get the word out on upcoming events.
The family oriented celebration helps provide tuition assistance for families of the Aquinas Catholic Schools. And just like Mardi Gras in New Orleans, the celebration is a great reason to cut loose during these colder months.
“With the melee of winter, it’s a great time to be able to get out before lent to tie it in with Mardi Gras New Orleans and do something fun in the community. The goal is to have fun and carry on, that’s the goal. If we do that right everyone usually contributes to be a part of it,” said the Rex and Queen of Mardi Gras Mark and Debbie Hansen.
