Manufacturing Month focuses on Wisconsin manufacturers

Month part of attempt to find more employees

Wisconsin manufacturing is the focus of a new declaration for October.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Secretary visited Hydrite Chemical Company’s La Crosse location Friday to talk about the importance of manufacturing in Wisconsin’s economy. Governor Walker declared October as Manufacturing Month to recognize the impact the state’s strong manufacturing industry has.

According to officials, the state’s manufacturing sector employs more than 467 thousand workers and contributes more than $57 billion to Wisconsin’s economic growth.

With all the benefits manufacturing companies bring to Wisconsin… many are finding it difficult to fill vacancies.

“It’s becoming more and more difficult to find people that want a career in manufacturing. The nice thing for La Crosse is that as far as manufacturing, we have so many different areas. We have transportation and logistics, we have quality control, we have research and development. There’s so many different areas that you can work in,” said Hydrite Chemical Company Operations Manager Tia Davis.

Officials hope the new declaration will bring more potential employees into the manufacturing field.
