Man dies after being struck by shrapnel at bachelor-bachelorette party
ARENDAHL TOWNSHIP, Minn. — A 47-year-old man died after apparently being struck by shrapnel at a bachelor-bachelorette party in Arendahl Township Saturday night.
The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Department said Jeffrey Taylor and his two sons were tending cattle at a property in Arendahl Township and were invited to stop by the party as they were leaving.
Sheriff Daryl Jensen said some of the people at the party were shooting explosive targets for fun. Just before 9 p.m., Taylor was standing behind the shooter and was apparently struck by shrapnel. Taylor immediately collapsed with a wound to his abdomen, Sheriff Jensen said.
Taylor was driven to a nearby location where the Rushford Ambulance and Mayo 1 helicopter attended him. Sheriff Jensen said Taylor was pronounced dead at that location.
An autopsy was scheduled to be performed on June 16. The results have not been released yet. Sheriff Jensen said the case is expected to be sent to the Fillmore County Attorney for review.20605816
