Man convicted of 36 counts of sexual assault related charges

A Monroe County man has been convicted of 36 counts of sexual assault related charges after a four day trial.

Michael T. Dewey, 38, of Elroy was convicted Thursday of nine counts of first degree sexual assault of a child, six convictions of repeated sexual assault of a child, two counts of incest, seven counts of exposing genitals to a child, seven counts of causing a child to expose genitals, four counts of child enticement, and one count of false imprisonment.

Monroe County District Attorney Croninger said, “The facts of this case were horrific, no child should have to endure what Michael Dewey did to these children.” Croninger continued, “Michael Dewey is a predator who used children for his own sexual gratification. These verdicts will help to ensure that no other child has to endure victimization from him.”

Dewey’s bond was revoked and he was taken into custody pending sentencing.
