Man charged in beating witness in Hougom case arrested for theft, possession
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A man charged in beating up a witness involved in the Sara Hougom homicide case was in court Wednesday for new charges.
Pao Choua Vue, 25, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, attempted misdemeanor theft, and possession of a firearm after being arrested at the Days Inn Hotel on French Island.
Authorities were called on November 3rd for a fraud in progress after a man attempted to cash fraudulent play winning slips from the hotel’s bar poker machines.
Vue’s name was signed on one of the slips and was staying at the hotel at the time of the arrest.
After a search of Vue’s hotel room items related to manufacturing fraudulent receipt slips for poker machines were recovered as well as a handgun, meth, glass smoking pipe, a digital scale, razor blades, a folding knife, and stolen Walmart merchandise.
Vue was previously charged with battery of an inmate, Lucas Brickl, who was testifying against his cousin, Pao Choua T. Vue, in the murder of Sara Hougom in 2012.
Pao Choua T. Vue is serving 35 years in prison for his role in Hougom’s death.
