Man arrested after allegedly brandishing knife at Amtrak staff in Monroe County

OAKDALE, Wis. (WKBT)– A man is under arrest after allegedly brandishing a knife at Amtrak staff in Monroe County. The suspect, Timothy Thomas, was arrested by authorities and booked into the Monroe County Jail following the incident Saturday night.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the communications center received a call at 6:46 p.m. about a man on a train causing a disturbance. Thomas allegedly brandished a knife at staff and attempted to force entry into a secured portion of the train.

The train was stopped by staff east of Oakdale. Thomas then left the train on his own and began walking away from the scene, according to authorities. No one on the train was injured during the incident.

Thomas was located by Wisconsin State Patrol walking westbound on Highway 12 before he was arrested.

The incident remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Canadian Pacific Police Service and Amtrak Police.
