Longfellow Middle School recognized as an “Apple Distinguished School”

An area school’s innovative approach to education is catching the eye of the tech world.

The Apple Cooperation honored Longfellow Middle School in La Crosse Monday as an  “Apple Distinguished School” for their 1-to-1 iPad program.

Faculty use the i-pads in their classroom curriculum. Every student receives an iPad at the beginning of the year and uses it for their daily school work.

The principal at the school says the technology is changed the learning process for both students and teachers.

“In the past you’ve had teachers grade massive amounts of paper, piles and piles of paper. Now, they can turn it in electronically. Teachers can see their work, they can do it in real time. They can ask the teachers questions hours way past 7:25 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., ” said Dr. Penny A. Reedy.

There is only three other school districts in Wisconsin that have earned the award.
