Logan High students build cabins for local boy scouts

Cabins built at Camp Decorah

Some La Crosse high school students are building cabins for local boy scouts Thursday.

The Logan High School construction class used building plans provided by the ‘Gateway Area Council Boy Scouts of America’ to draw, cut, build and frame cabins for Camp Decorah in Holmen.

The Boy Scouts needed to replace worn-out canvas tents with some permanent, two and four person structures.

“The cabins that we are building right now are mostly for staff during the camp season, but like I said out main focus is not just on the weeks that we operate camp, but again using the facilities year-round,” said Camp Decorah Corps Volunteer Ken Ortery.

Camp directors say more cabins will be built for the scouts as well.
