Logan High School teacher named 2019 Outstanding Biology Teacher of the Year

A La Crosse Logan High School teacher is named 2019 Outstanding Biology Teacher Award winner for Wisconsin.

Tom Kammer has been the Biology and Health Science Academy teacher for the past 37 years at Logan High School in La Crosse.

Kammer received his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science degree from UW-La Crosse.

He also serves as Chair of the Science Department at Logan High School and is head coach of the boy’s soccer team and the head coach of the girl’s track and field team.

“It’s such a family atmosphere here,” said Kammer. “I’m excited every day to be here, I mean after 37 years I’m not wearing out, I still look forward to being here every day. We have a lot of teachers here who really dedicate their lives to these students and the students respond.”

Kammer began teaching at La Crosse Logan Senior High School and has taught everything science from introductory biology to AP Biology to Environmental Science to Principals of Engineering.
