Lock and Dam 8 in Genoa will close to replace 85-year-old gates
GENOA, Wis. (WKBT) – Lock and Dam 8 in Genoa will close to river traffic to replace miter gates, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says.
The closure will happen in 12-hour periods – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. – on June 14, 16, 21 and 23. During those periods, the lock will be closed to all river traffic, commercial and recreational.
The original miter gates from the 1930s will be replaced to increase the longevity and operation readiness of the lock and dam.
