Locally created booklet offers tips for seniors to avoid falls & injuries
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Wisconsin consistently ranks at the top for deaths related to falls.
To help cut down on the number, the La Crosse County Falls Prevention Coalition has created a booklet to help reduce falls and injuries.
It’s called “Stand Tall, Don’t Fall.”
The booklet covers more than 50 tips to prevent falls for older people.
First responders say learning these methods could potentially save a life.
“It’s important for families that there are resources out there and that there are tools out there that can keep their family members out of the hospital, out of the nursing homes and in their homes longer,” said La Crosse Fire Division Chief Jeff Murphy.
There are about 7,000 copies of the booklet available at medical facilities across the county.
