Local volunteers threw a party to celebrate nearly a month of hard work
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — After four weekends of volunteering in the Lower Northside Depot Neighborhood, ReNEW La Crosse held a block party at Copeland Park Saturday.
The party was sponsored by the La Crosse Loggers and featured Logger hot dogs, games, players and mascots.
Organizers say almost 150 volunteers worked on about 30 projects over the four weekend period.
“The idea of neighborhood vitalization is that a month is not a very long time. We’ve been coming here every Saturday, but that’s it — for the last month. But the idea is that over a course of Saturdays, with volunteer work, we can make transformations to one neighborhood in a very short amount of time,” said La Crosse’s Habitat for Humanity executive director, Kahya Fox.
