Local veteran inviting other to join September 11th Memorial Walk

Charlie Hall will be walking 9.11 miles on Saturday

WEST SALEM, Wis. (WKBT) – A La Crosse County veteran is preparing to walk 9.11 miles on Saturday, the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

Charlie Hall, a 20-year veteran of the Army, is inviting others to join him.

Hall will start his remembrance walk at his home, go through the Village of West Salem, and stop at the local fire station and Veterans Memorial Park to pay respects.

He was in the army at the time of the attack in 2001.

“At that moment when the towers were hit, we transitioned from a peace-time training army to a war-fighting battalion,” says Hall.9 11 Walk

He’s raising money for the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.

Hall is already looking to next year when he plans to do a 91.1-kilometer bike ride towards Soldiers Grove.

There’s an open group on Facebook where you can tell Hall you’d like to join him for the walk on Saturday.

He says he doesn’t expect anyone to walk the whole length with him, but anybody can come to meet him along the way.

Hall will kick off his walk at 7 a.m.
