Local teacher goes the extra mile to bring home the bacon

Holmen elementary teacher kisses a pig

Teachers do some pretty creative things to motivate their students.

One principal in Holmen decided if she was going to encourage her students, she would have to pucker up.

Holmen’s Evergreen Elementary School Principal, Rachel Fawver, kissed a *pig* at an assembly on Tuesday. She promised the students she would do it if the school’s Parent Teacher Organization raised more than $15,000 this year.

“Our PTO pays for student assignment notebooks every year they pay for assemblies, field trips, our parents pay none of that out of pocket,” says Fawver. “So I was definitely willing to do whatever it took for us to meet our fundraising goal.”

The pig’s name was DOT, and a local farmer decided to loan her out for a good cause.
