Local students are trick-or-treating for a cause
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Local high schoolers were out trick-or-treating on Halloween, but candy wasn’t what they asked for.
Nearly 100 students and staff from Central High School walked around south side neighborhoods to collect non-perishable food items for their annual Trick-or-Can event.
The food they collect will go to IFEED, Hunger Task Force and the school’s food pantry.
One student says they wouldn’t be able to do this without the community’s involvement.
“The community and the families that give us the opportunity to get these canned goods and help out area families are the reason that the event is able to go on year after year, and we appreciate the support,” Central High School senior, Emma Peterson-Johnson said.
Last year students collected over 2,000 items….this year they hope to collect 3,000 items.
