Local students and celebrities team up for Who Will be Smarter than a 5th Grader

Local celebrities and students teamed up at the 11 th annual “Who will be Smarter than a 5th Grader” contest.

The audience at Valley View Mall watched as WIZM’s Ken Cooper, Gundersen Health System’s Mike McKee, Mayo Health System’s Nick Miller and more worked with their 5th grade partners to prove their smarts by answering trivia questions.

Saturday’s grand prize went to Mike McKee’s team.

“His student, Shiloh Wilk, gets to take a $1,000 check to her school, which was S.O.T.A I: School of Technology and Arts. And she gets to pick what that money will go towards,” said Ruth Kinstler, the Volunteer Coordinator for Coulee Region RSVP.

McKee also topped celebrity fundraising efforts, collecting more than $6,800 for Coulee Region RSVP. The organization provides volunteer opportunities to community members 55 years of age and older.
