Local middle school band offers new program

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Lincoln Middle School is offering a new program for students.

The middle school band now has a Winter Guard.

On Sunday they practiced their routines.

The La Crosse Stars, as they’re called, will be playing at indoor sporting events.

Plus, they plan to compete with other Winter Guards from around the region.

The program is 3 weeks old, but there are already 17 members.

And its not just for Lincoln students.

Middle school students within the La Crosse School District can join.

“Girls and boys like to dance and perform visually. There’s a component of seeing their friends have a lot of fun with this and want to do it as well.”

It’s a fun way for kids within the district to connect.

A 1$,700 grant from the La Crosse Public Education Foundation helped purchase flags and uniforms.

The community also helped make this program possible.
