Local group looks at effects of climate change on health
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Can climate change impact your health? That was the focus of a discussion in La Crosse Tuesday.
The “Building Resilience Against Climate Effects” planning project or “BRACE” received a grant from the state to look at how climate change impacts health.
The group looked at the impacts of droughts, changing winter weather, and hotter temperatures.
“With increased flooding that we’ve had, that’s certainly occurred in our area in 2008 and the increase in insurance and damages that have occurred, and how that can impact, obviously with like mold, that can be an impact on people’s health,” said La Crosse Co. Health Educator Al Bliss.
The goal for “BRACE” is to raise public awareness on the impacts of climate change.
