Local group celebrates 30th anniversary of National Philanthropy Day
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Friday marked the 30th anniversary of National Philanthropy Day.
The day was a chance to recognize those in your life who go above and beyond to help others.
The Upper Mississippi Valley Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals celebrated the day with an awards luncheon at the Radisson in La Crosse.
They recognized people in the community for their efforts to help the community.
Organizers say their contributions is what makes the La Crosse area such a great place to live.
“La Crosse is just an incredible place and one of the reasons why that is, is because there’s a cultural of giving here in La Crosse and there’s so many wonderful people who give of themselves of their financial resources, of their time, their expertise to make this a better community,” said Mike Swenson from the local chapter of Fundraising Professionals.
There were five different awards giving out at the luncheon. The recipients were nominated by local nonprofit organizations.
