Local football players named semifinalists for Krieg, Toon awards

Several area football players have been named finalists for a couple major state football awards.

Aquinas’s Quinn Miskowski is a semifinalist for the Al Toon Award, given to the best senior wideout or tight end in the state. He’s Jackson Flottmeyer’s go-to option so far this season with 13 catches and nine touchdowns.

Black River Falls Mike Roou was also named a semifinalist with 26 catches for over 500 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Three area quarterbacks are also semifinalists for the Dave Krieg award (best senior QB): Central’s Mason Herlitzke, Onalaska’s Ayden Larson, and Mauston’s Spencer Lehman.

Herlitzke has thrown for 838 yards, nine touchdowns and six interceptions. He’s also run for 361 yards and four scores. Larson currently has 869 yards, 12 touchdowns, and two interceptions. He’s also run for 248 yards and four touchdowns. Mauston’s Lehman has 1,095 passing yards and 15 touchdowns to five interceptions.

Each position group has around 28 semifinalists for their respective award. Five finalists will be named per position award after the regular season.
