Local families receive special delivery from La Crosse Area YMCA
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A few families in our community got a very special delivery Wednesday.
The La Crosse Area YMCA dropped off ‘Family Food Packs,’ filled with a week’s worth of food.
They were given to families with kids that spend time at the Y’s Primetime Center, where many of them have been doing virtual learning.
One YMCA program director said this is one way the Y can make even more of a difference in their lives.
“The academia piece is there, but the social and emotional piece is extremely important to us as well, and it’s part of our mission,” said Keonte Turner, YMCA Community Family & Youth Director. “A lot of those kids come in at 8 am every day and we teach them and help them with virtual learning, and I said, ‘what way can we give back to them and their families?'”
Each pack includes a week’s worth of balanced breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for every family member.
