Local event raises awareness about heart disease in women
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Some women in the area spent Friday afternoon learning about their hearts.
The annual Celebrating Her Heart Health Luncheon raises awareness about heart disease, which is the leading killer of women.
One woman told her story of overcoming her heart problems.
Plus, local speakers from the medical community talked about recognizing symptoms and prevention.
Women often have different symptoms than men which is why organizers say events like these are so important.
“This whole event here is to educate and to get people and women involved to listen to their bodies and take care of their health,” said Deb Carlson, Director of Membership and Grants, Explore La Crosse.
This 3rd annual event comes during American Heart Month.
